“Must. Go. Faster.” That’s what Dr. Ian Malcolm, played by Jeff Goldblum, says in an iconic scene from the 1993 movie Jurassic Park as he and two other characters flee in a Jeep from a rampaging tyrannosaurus. When the driver looks in the rearview mirror, he sees the raging reptile’s jaw—right above the words: “OBJECTS IN MIRROR MAY BE CLOSER THAN THEY APPEAR.”

The scene is a masterful combination of intensity and grim humor. But sometimes the “monsters” from our past feel like they’ll never stop pursuing us. We look in the “mirror” of our lives and see mistakes looming right there, threatening to consume us with guilt or shame.

The apostle Paul understood the past’s potentially paralyzing power. He’d spent years trying to live perfectly apart from Christ, and even persecuted Christians (Philippians 3:1–9). Regret over his past could easily have crippled him.

But Paul found such beauty and power in his relationship with Christ that he was compelled to let go of his old life (vv. 8–9). That freed him to look forward in faith instead of backward in fear or regret: “One thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal” (vv. 13–14).

Our redemption in Christ has freed us to live for Him. We don’t have to let those “objects in (our) mirror” dictate our direction as we continue forward.

With due respect I beg to state that in response to MCD letter No. Tax/Naz/2010/2608 dated 03.01.2011u/s 123D of DMC (Amendment) Act, 2003, I had furnished details about having paid property tax for the years 2006-07, 2007-08, 2008-09, 2005-06, 2009-10 and 2010-11 amounting to ₹ 12,956/- ) Rupees Twelve thousand Nine hundred and Fifty Six only), to the Assessor & Collector, Nazafgarh Zone, MCD, New Delhi - 43, on 1 February, 2011.

Thereafter, I paid an amount of ₹ 4903/- through  cheque number 009908 of Axis bank dt 12/6/2013 for the year 2013 -14with receipt number 090914;  amount of ₹ 2111/-  on 19/6/2015 through cheque number 539106 of Axis bank for the year   2015-16 with receipt number 231983403860; and an amount of ₹ 2740/- on 02/05/2017 through cheque number  539111 of Axis Bank for the 2016-17 with receipt number  6839.

Now I have come to learn from mcd website that an amount of ₹ 32,789/- (Rupees Thirty two thousand Seven hundred Eighty Nine only) is outstanding against my property with covered area of approximately 1000 square feet . Having doubts over genuineness of amount outstanding against me, I consulted the MCD officials on Monday, 20 May, 2019.

Eventhough the system required me to  make entry of the area in square feet, which I did accordingly, officials sitting in MCD office, Sector 9 of Dwarka, New Delhi told me that areas are calculated in square metres and not in square foot. Manually I paid an amount of ₹ 8524/- through SBI cheque number 558130 as property tax for the year 2019-20 plus arrears for 2017-18 and 2018-19 and other charges.

In view of the above, I request you to kindly reconcile the issue so that I may be rest assured that there is nothing outstanding against me.

You are also requested to ensure that no extra user IDs exist against my property and also intimate me the id number against which entry of payment of the above mentioned amount of ₹ 8523/- is made.

You are also requested to kindly inform me in case of any dues outstanding against me in the matter.

Surgery FESS

I have been customer to the State Bank of india (SBI), PHA Branch since the year 1998. My salary and allowances in Lok Sabha Secretariat, where I am employed, have been credited to the savings/salary account ever since. During the recent time I have experienced the honesty and integrity of staff/officers of the bank branch which, I believe, deserve special mention.


On Monday, 8 April, 2019 I was privileged to receive my debit card (which I, accidently, left in the ATM machine of the branch on the last/ previous Saturday), from a lady staff, who had intimated me about the same over phone.


On Tuesday, 9 April, 2019 I got the case of Recurring Deposit (RD) where my account number was erroneously entangled, rectified by the same lady who helped me get back my debit card the previous day. I had been informed by staff of the Bank that according to the SI set up, an amount of ₹ 4000/- would get transferred from my account to the account of another SBI, PHA customer viz. Sunil Ekka which of course, has potential to dent the reputation of the bank.

The cheating side of town

Inspite of my having issues cheque for an amount of ₹ 1,31,122/- to IDBI to clear my lap account with it on 24.4.2019 I received a courier that says I still owe the bank an amount of ₹ 6467/-. Either there is cheating or there is inefficiency. Either way I am not responsible.
Now Gaurav, the officer incharge, said over phone that the letter must have been issued earlier and there is nothing outstanding except a ₹ 4/- in your account, pay it over ecs. Told me the IFSC code over phone.
